Conventional approaches
  • The widespread belief in the medical community and the public is that pain is due to a physical cause, such as tissue damage
  • This means that the focus is on ‘pain management’ where only the symptoms are treated, resulting in superficial and often only temporary relief
  • The underlying causes are therefore not identified and addressed
  • The body is deconstructed into separate component parts and therefore the individual is not seen and treated as a whole
  • The focus is on ‘disease’, rather than wellness
The SIRPA™ approach
  • SIRPA™ identifies and addresses the underlying causes of your pain. Because how can you provide targeted treatment if you don’t identify and address the root cause?
  • When pain persists after tissues have healed, pain science shows that the pain is not linked to tissue damage
  • Research shows that while chronic pain is real, various non-physical factors play a role in causing pain to persist
  • SIRPA’s approach is focused on health and wellness, not on disease
  • Hear it from Physiotherapist Georgie Oldfield MCSP, a leading chronic pain specialist and the Founder of SIRPA™
PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BODY
If You Listen To Your Body When It Whispers,
You Won’t Have To Hear It Scream
  • SIRPA™ identifies and addresses the underlying causes of your pain. Because how can you provide targeted treatment if you don’t identify and address the root cause?
  • When pain persists after tissues have healed, pain science shows that the pain is not linked to tissue damage
  • Research shows that while chronic pain is real, various non-physical factors play a role in causing pain to persist

So how can the SIRPA™ approach help you?
The SIRPA™ recovery programme uses up to date pain science in their education because evidence shows this plays an important role in a pain relief approach. SIRPA’s approach is based on the understanding that unexplained chronic pain is due to neural circuits that have become learned and sensitised. Therefore by using a mind-body approach the aim is to reprogramme these learned neural circuits, while also identifying and addressing the underlying causes of the pain. NB. SIRPA’s online recovery programme is available to purchasers from anywhere at any time and from a PC, Mac, phone or tablet. Access is available longterm and if the programme is moved to another platform, where possible, SIRPA will offer purchasers the opportunity to continue accessing the content via the new platform.
What Will You Learn?
The factors that pain science shows are involved in how and why pain becomes persistent, plus what you can do about them
How powerful your mind is & how to reprogramme your brain and overcome conditioned/learned responses
How to address any doubts and fears as you learn to calm your primal brain, therefore reducing the ‘fuel’ for your symptoms
How to develop a curiosity towards the sensations (emotional and physical) in your body as you reframe your understanding of the pain
How to become more emotionally aware as you address any doubts and fears plus reframe your understanding of the pain, addressing it through a lens of safety
To safely identify, acknowledge and express unresolved emotions linked to current and past events and how to deal with day to day triggers
How to reprogramme your brain with more healthy, supportive neural circuits and behaviours to more effectively deal with internal and external situations/stressors
How your personality traits, learned behaviours, self-limiting beliefs and self-talk can cause self-induced stress and how to modify these to cope better with life’s circumstances
How to live life with less resistance by dealing more effectively with challenges you face, therefore proactively preventing future problems
So how can the SIRPA™ approach help you?

Breakdown of Course Content
  • Module 1: Let's get started
This module is aimed at providing you with some of the basic understanding about the concepts related to chronic pain and other mindbody conditions and their treatment. As you start to go through these introductory lessons, interspersed amongst them are a number of helpful strategies. The idea for this is not only to help you learn some simple strategies from the start, but for you to also benefit from them if you find yourself becoming triggered at any point.
  • Module 2: Education and Understanding
In this module we go into more depth about the factors involved in mindbody/psychophysiological disorders, to help you gain a broader understanding of potential predisposing factors, as well as factors involved in the triggering and perpetuation of the pain and/or symptoms.
  • Module 3 & 4: Creating a Solid Foundation
Module 3&4 is when you can begin to set your intentions and learn some powerful strategies to help you on your journey. These are life skills, not just to help resolve symptoms. The more you can integrate and really utilise the understanding and strategies, the more you will see how these are just as powerful to use as preventative measures, as they are as part of a treatment plan.
  • Module 5: Self-Induced Stress
Moving forwards, in this module we go into detail about how beliefs, judgements and personality traits, as well as fear and anxiety impact pain and other mindbody symptoms. By gaining a good understanding, you will then be able to individualise all this to address those factors relevant to you and your circumstances.
  • Module 6: Time to Reflect
Continue to use those strategies you find most helpful, as you develop a sense of feeling safe in your body, through developing your ability to self-soothe and self-regulate. Once you trust in your ability to do that, without becoming overwhelmed when emotions start to surface or the pain/symptom increases, then this is the time to begin reflecting more deeply. This module will provide you with tools to guide you through that process.
  • Module 7: Deepening your Understanding
This module encourages you to explore your life further and to consider how you can focus on things that make you let go, laugh, become self-empowered and basically live a more authentic life.
  • Module 8: Worksheets
We’ve collated all of the strategies and worksheets which we reference throughout the training into one place to make it easy for you to dip back in and find what you’re looking for.
About The Instructor – Georgie Oldfield (MCSP)
Georgie Oldfield MCSP – physiotherapist and the SIRPA™ Founder – is the UK & European leader in this field of chronic pain treatment. In 2007, she learned from the American pioneer in this field, Dr. John E. Sarno (Prof of Medical Rehabilitation) which inspired her to create the SIRPA Online Chronic Pain Recovery Programme.

Since then, Georgie has: hosted two international conferences, been invited to speak at a number of conferences, run courses for NHS Trusts and private health professionals, written a book with 1,000s of copies sold and helped hundreds of people resolve their chronic pain in her own private practice.

In 2010 she also founded SIRPA™, a training organisation set up to teach and support other practitioners as they integrate this approach into their own work.

Within about 6 months I was pain free and have continued to be so. I was able to get back to all my normal activities and have started lots of new ones.”
