Do you ever wonder if there is more to chronic pain and other
persistent symptoms than the physical presentation?

SIRPA's CPD training incorporates key elements of Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) and Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET), reflecting the growing evidence base and interest in these approaches in the treatment of chronic pain and other neuroplastic symptoms. We are closely aligned with the clinicians and educators leading this work, and our courses bring together these important methods within a broader, integrative framework.

This allows practitioners to develop confidence using these evidence-based strategies, while also adapting their approach to the individual needs of each client. By combining these elements with additional education, nervous system regulation and additional therapeutic tools, we support a more flexible, personalised way of working that reflects the individuality of each person presenting with chronic pain or other neuroplastic symptoms.
Are you baffled by clients who are experiencing chronic pain and other unexplained medical symptoms and feel like something is missing?
Are you frustrated because clients keep coming back with a recurrence of their pain or yet another symptom, often even after explaining the up to date pain neuroscience?

Are you confused by the mixed messaging around chronic pain and wondering why you aren’t seeing the results you expect with your clients?
If you’ve answered YES to any of these questions, then you are in the right place.
And You’re Not Alone!
More and more health and wellness professionals are questioning the effectiveness of treating chronic pain and other neuroplastic symptoms as a purely physical problem
The latest pain science agrees.
What makes the SIRPA approach so powerful is that it equips you to take a whole-person approach when treating patients or working with clients. Through our comprehensive CPD Courses, you will learn evidence-based strategies for supporting those you work with as you help them examine the psychosocial, behavioural and emotional aspects of their pain or other persistent symptoms. We have seen thousands of people make full recoveries from symptoms they were told were permanent!

What our students are saying about our Chronic Pain Recovery CPD Courses:
“Completing Levels 1-3 of the SIRPA training has genuinely been the most transformational training I have ever completed as a Physiotherapist. It has not only benefited me personally and professionally but is bringing about life changing results for my clients with chronic pain, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. I highly recommend it to any healthcare professional, it the most valuable CPD you will ever complete. The support received along the way is also second to none".   Cheryl Lockhart, Physiotherapist
“The SIRPA approach is a rare example of a medical practise that has actually caught up with the leading edge of medical knowledge”. Adam Al-Kashi PhD, Thought Leader and Relationship Centred Facilitator
“As a Consultant Psychiatrist I often see clients with ‘Stress-Related and Somatic Symptom Disorder’. So many of these individuals turn out to have ‘Stress Illness’ as described by Georgina. Her SIRPA Practitioner Training Programme and SIRPA approach to Stress Illness enables Health Professionals to develop the skills to identify this often chronic and disabling condition in their own clients. Georgina really has been instrumental in the positive changing of lives forever.” Wayne Kampers MRCPsych
A very exciting course for me – it opened up some exciting new perspectives regarding approaches to chronic pain. Thank you – It has definitely been one of the best courses I have done. I very much appreciate your passion and inspiration for and around this important work.” Damon Peterson, Osteopath
“The mental stimulation from doing the course has been so welcome, I have not been so excited about learning since I did my degree. I have also found a new way to work with my patients that has given me energy and enthusiasm. I have already started incorporating some of your approach and have already seen some stunning results.” Kate Fry, Osteopath
“The course did not disappoint, and left me feeling inspired to join Georgie in pushing this work forward. Georgie’s enthusiasm, knowledge, and personal insight into stress illness recovery make for an excellent combination. By the end of day 4 I felt confident and excited to return to work and start utilising some of the many tools the SIRPA Practitioner course had equipped me with. I really believe we are at the start of an amazing journey, which I definitely want to be a part of.” Pete Gray MCSP
“I wanted to do a course which filled the gaps in my knowledge base, was professionally led, current, and gave me a set of tools that I could use with my clients. The SIRPA Practitioner course gave me what I wanted, and I use the SIRPA approach, tools and techniques on a daily basis across my client base. For me the theoretical conceptualisation of the SIRPA approach, and the diverse range of techniques offered for psycho-somatic presentations brought many pieces of my own practice together within a coherent framework, and was in many ways the missing piece in my work in this area.”Dennis Donnelly, Osteopath and Body Psychotherapist
“The SIRPA training is an excellent training course, particularly if you are a counselor/psychotherapist. It’s even better if you have training from a psychodynamic perspective. When I heard about SIRPA I knew that all I ever suspected about the causes of pain and illness were validated.” Liz Hancock MBACP
“I have to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed the SIRPA training programme. I have found it incredibly interesting, well structured and so packed with resources. The rich variety of presentations makes it such a goldmine of information.” Catherine-Le-Bihon, Coach
“Thank you so much Georgie. I really enjoyed so much the training course. It was a really fantastic experience!” Susana Calleja Arnaiz, Spain
“This course has simultaneously turned my osteopathic, naturopathic, NLP and Acupuncture training on its head, whilst also enhancing it and integrating it all, ‘Lucky Patients’.” Ashling Moore, Osteopath
“I am excited to be heading off in this direction and your course was a catalyst for me.” Jim Prussack, Physical Therapist, California, US
“I have increasingly wondered over my years of clinical practice what the golden key would be for my patients to truly understand why they were developing their symptoms. Having done the SIRPA practitioner course I feel like I have been given the gift of knowledge and understanding to guide them to the true cause of their pain and dysfunction. To reveal how our emotions make themselves known, heard and felt in our bodies.” Jo Coulter, Physiotherapist
“It was lovely! I went back over several of the lessons/videos many many times – the level of content was impressive! I’m very glad that I can go back and review as needed. The worksheets included are super helpful and handy, and my ability to communicate these concepts with my patients has *definitely* improved! Thank you Georgie for putting it together for us!” Katelyn Michals, Acupuncturist
"I thought I had a fair bit of awareness regarding the mind body connection as a dual trained OT and yoga teacher. But this course has take it to a whole new level! The quality of the information and science provided is excellent . It's really boosted my confidence in using this approach with my clients . Thanks a million." Deirdre Heaney, OT and Yoga Teacher

Conventional approaches
  • The widespread belief in the medical community and the public is still that pain is due to a physical cause, such as tissue damage, posture, structural or biomechanical changes
  • This means that the focus is on ‘pain management’ where only the symptoms are treated, resulting in superficial and often only temporary relief
  • Even when up to date pain neuroscience is taught, often the underlying causes are not identified and addressed
  • The body is deconstructed into separate component parts and therefore the individual is not seen and treated as a whole
  • The focus is on ‘disease’ rather than wellness, leading to disempowerment for patients and health professionals
SIRPA™'s Approach
  • SIRPA identifies and addresses the underlying causes of pain. Because how can you provide targeted treatment if you don’t identify and address the root causes?
  • When pain persists after tissues have healed, pain science shows that the pain is not linked to tissue damage
  • Research shows that while chronic pain is real, various non-physical factors play a role in causing pain to persist, as well as triggering it in the first place
  • SIRPA’s approach is focused on health and wellness, not on disease
  • We focus on empowering health professionals and their clients to address the root causes of chronic pain and, wherever possible, to restore their health and wellbeing

About The Instructor – Georgie Oldfield (MCSP)
Georgie Oldfield is a British physiotherapist known for her innovative approach to the treatment of chronic pain. She developed the SIRPA (Stress Illness Recovery Practitioners Association) method, influenced by Dr. John E. Sarno’s work on Tension Myoneural Syndrome (TMS). The SIRPA approach suggests that chronic pain often stems from stress and repressed emotions, resulting in learned neural circuits which become sensitised. She advocates for a self-empowering approach that includes education, emotional and somatic strategies as well as addressing lifestyle and behavioural factors.

Oldfield’s work has been transformative for patients struggling with chronic pain, particularly those who haven’t found relief through traditional medical treatments. She has authored the book “Chronic Pain: Your Key to Recovery” and provides training for healthcare professionals through SIRPA’s Practitioner courses. Through SIRPA, she also organises and hosts international conferences in London to raise awareness of this concept and approach. As an educator and speaker, Oldfield continues to promote a broader understanding of the mind-body connection in health, advocating for a compassionate and comprehensive approach for individuals looking to resolve their pain.
