Ronald's Recovery Journey

“For decades, I lived with an array of pain experiences—chronic lower back and neck pain following a rugby accident, countless headaches after a traumatic brain injury, and severe leg and foot pain after five months of hospitalisation in 2022. Much of my mobility had been restricted, with muscle tension and spasms limiting my walking to the point where I relied on sticks for support.

When I began working with Rachel, I was already familiar with pain reprocessing through previous therapy and reading. What makes Rachel exceptional is her ability to help me see beyond the initial layers of distraction my mind creates. While I could identify the first or second layer of pain stories on my own, Rachel guides me through the third and fourth subtle layers where I would otherwise remain stuck.

Rachel never tells me to “just stop the story-making.” Instead, she helps me become vigilant about when I lose myself in narratives rather than staying present with sensation. Through breathwork, introducing me to pioneers like Dr. Howard Schubiner, and even incorporating movement through walking and dancing sessions, she has transformed my relationship with the signals my body sends—signals I had labelled as “pain” for most of my life.

This work can be challenging because it fundamentally shifts how I perceive and interact with the world. Yet within this challenge lies profound reward. I have always celebrated small wins in my recovery journey, but Rachel has elevated this practice to an art form, revealing areas where little Ronald needs reassurance and big Ronald needs self-congratulation rather than self-criticism.

Perhaps most remarkably, the week after an intense walking session with Rachel and the day after a session of soul retrieval work (recommended intuitively by Rachel), I walked down the High Street without my sticks for the first time in 7½ years. Rachel helped me fully embrace the joy of this experience, gently reminding me that my body knows how to walk—it always has.

Her approach complements my understanding of healing as expressed in The Natural Blueprint: when we support our brain and central nervous system, we improve our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

The journey with Rachel isn’t easy, but it is transformative. The shifts happen not just in pain reduction but in how I experience my body and the world around me. As I described in my book, after a profound session and a two-day fast, I experienced a satsuma with all my senses fully engaged—”When I finally bit down, I ground it with my teeth and felt the liquid as my taste buds exploded. How do I not notice this every time I eat?”

This heightened awareness and reconnection with my body’s wisdom is the gift that Rachel’s work continues to nurture. Pain hasn’t disappeared completely—could I really expect that after decades?—but my relationship with it has fundamentally transformed.

If you are fortunate enough to work with Rachel on your own pain journey, know that you will be in the hands of someone who truly understands the complex interplay between mind, body, and spirit in the healing process.”
