Level 1: Foundations of Chronic Pain Recovery

Embark on an introductory, experiential journey into the causes of chronic pain and the routes to recovery with our Level 1 course. This course, which counts as 25 hours of CPD training, is open to anyone interested in learning about the SIRPA approach. It’s a prerequisite for further training with SIRPA and provides a solid foundation for understanding our unique methods.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Evidence-Based Recovery Understanding: Gain insights into the latest evidence demonstrating the possibility of recovery from chronic pain and other persistent symptoms.
  2. Pain as a Brain Perception: Understand that pain is a perception of the brain, part of its protective response, which can become learned and sensitized.
  3. Identify Key Factors in Pain Resolution: Recognize and address predisposing, precipitating, and perpetuating factors in chronic pain.
  4. Experiential Learning: Engage in self-empowering strategies and resources that not only resolve pain but also improve overall health and well-being.
  5. Differentiate SIRPA from Traditional Approaches: Learn how the SIRPA approach differs from conventional pain management programmes.

Level 2: Fundamentals of Chronic Pain Recovery

After completing Level 1, advance your practice with Level 2. This course qualifies you as a ‘SIRPA-Informed professional,’ allowing you to educate and advise clients on chronic pain recovery. It consists of 22.4 hours of CPD training and is available to all health and wellness professionals.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Enhanced Client Outcomes: Gain a deeper understanding of pain and trauma science to improve client outcomes.
  2. Impact of Stress and Trauma: Learn how stress and past trauma affect the body’s physiology and how these effects can be reversed.
  3. Brain’s Role in Chronic Pain: Understand the pain neuroscience explaining the brain’s involvement in chronic pain and other mindbody conditions, including concepts like neuroplasticity and predictive coding.
  4. Identifying Neuroplastic Conditions: Learn to rule in a neuroplastic condition when all red flags have been ruled out and understand which conditions can be helped through SIRPA’s principles.
  5. Safe Professional Practice: Ensure the safety of both yourself and your clients while practicing as a SIRPA-Informed professional, as you educate and support your clients.

Level 3: SIRPA’s Practitioner Programme

If eligible, Level 3 is the final step in our training pathway, Level 3, enables you to use the SIRPA approach therapeutically with clients, helping them identify the causes of their pain and supporting them through their recovery journey. This course requires 50 hours of CPD training (approx. 20 hours theory + 30 hours clinical) and is open to qualified health professionals or coaches trained at diploma level or higher. Completion of Levels 1 and 2 is mandatory before undertaking this advanced training.

  1. Create a Safe Environment: Cultivate a secure setting for both clients and yourself as a clinician.
  2. Develop Somatic Awareness: Learn to evaluate felt sense and help clients enhance their somatic awareness and self-regulation abilities.
  3. Support Neuroplastic Pain Recovery: Assess clients with neuroplastic pain and safely guide them through their recovery process.
  4. Integrate SIRPA into Your Practice: Incorporate the SIRPA approach seamlessly into your professional work.
  5. Reflective Practise and Peer Support: Appreciate the benefits of reflective practise and ongoing peer and clinical support, plus discover how to access these resources through SIRPA.
