Tania's Recovery Journey
9 years ago my brother, with whom I had a fractious and complex relationship, died after 9 months of cancer. My mum and I looked after him and I managed to overlook our troubled past history and three years of little or no contact. It was a painful and traumatic time. I had a very difficult upbringing and always suffered sickness and tummy problems and severe back pains throughout my life .
After my brother died I began to have very bad neck and shoulder muscle pain sometimes going into agonising spasm. The first time it happened I thought I was having a heart attack it was so painful and for nine years it became worse and worse, often flooring me at important events. It changed me, I became smaller and anti-social and very anxious. I was confused by what my body was doing to me almost daily but worse if I became tense or anxious mostly over events or being under pressure. I went to every expert under the sun, had massages, meditated and had therapy. Because I am also a life coach I thought I knew myself very well but I learned so much more over the following months as I followed Nicole Sach’s work and gradually began to resolve my symptoms.
At first the pain relief was subtle and would come and go, now it’s 90 percent down. On Christmas Day I was under a lot of pressure and everyone was ill but I used everything I have learnt and got up early to journal and meditate and kept the pains at bay.
I have had several symptom imperatives including worse IBS and terrible anxiety with symptoms associated with it but have soldiered on with the work as Nicole would say like a Warrior! I cannot believe how much my pain has gone down and my anxiety is easing and even my terrible tummy is on the mend!
Recently I travelled to Antigua for a holiday which two years ago I could not have done. On the holiday there I was pain and anxiety free and managed to stay relatively calm on the flights. Without Nicole’s work I have no idea where I would be now, my marriage has suffered, my friends could not understand my pain or anxiety and judged me for being a recluse/ anti social/ lazy ( some were supportive ). My mum thinks I am odd and is threatened by the work I am doing on myself but I know the path I am on and I am proud of myself.
After years of debilitating neck, shoulder, and IBS symptoms that intensified following her brother’s death and left her anxious, isolated, and misunderstood, she gradually reclaimed her life through mind–body work, reducing her pain by 90% and rebuilding the confidence to travel, socialise, and trust her body again
