About Sue O’Sullivan
Hi, I’m Sue,
I have been working as a counsellor for many years and I became more interested in mind/body link to pain/illness, when I had my own chronic pain. Therefore, I bring this experience of understanding the impact this has on every aspect of your life, and knowledge of what may be required to support you in finding a way out of your symptoms, so you can live the life you want.
As a counsellor, accredited with the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapist), I have worked with many different people with issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, bereavement, trauma, including domestic violence/abuse, ACE’s (Adverse childhood Experience), and relationship difficulties. For many years I worked in the healthcare sector, working alongside doctors and physiotherapists, which has given me a good understanding of medical conditions/terminology.
I am an integrative counsellor which means I utilise different psychotherapeutic approaches, giving me flexibility to work with you, as a unique person, and now incorporate the skills and techniques from the SIRPA approach.
I offer a caring, supportive space where together we will safely explore your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behaviours. These may be about your present-day life and/or linked to your past difficult experiences. You may be holding onto unexpressed emotions, stuck in unhealthy behaviours and outdated beliefs which are having a negative effect on you emotionally and physically and fuelling your symptoms. I can help you develop a clearer view of what is impacting you, so you can utilise strategies, make choices to change, to alleviate your symptoms, empowering you to move forward with confidence and optimism.
I understand it is difficult to make the first step, and it is important to find the person you feel comfortable to work with, therefore I offer free 20-minute introductory session via Zoom or phone.
You can also view my profile and contact me via BACP Find a Therapist Directory.
I look forward to hearing from you.
