Kay Bradley-Higgins

SIRPA Practitioner

About Kay Bradley-Higgins

I work with patients with persistent pain.  Helping them to recover and get back to a healthy and happy life.  After all, doing what you love makes life interesting.

After graduating as a Physiotherapist in 1991 from Salford, I quickly decided to specialise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. Since then, I have worked continuously in the NHS as well as working privately for others and now myself. After a while I became increasingly interested in the causes and treatment of low back pain.  Having done many courses over the years, I was always on the lookout for ways to help my back pain patients.  In 2006 I attended a Sarah Key Masterclass; a course dedicated to the treatment of spinal problems. I then went on to become a Sarah Key Practitioner.  However, after developing my skills, I still felt that there was something missing from my practice.

Whilst demonstrating the Sarah Key Method at a therapy conference, I came across Georgie Oldfield, her name was familiar to me as we both live in Huddersfield, but we had never met before.

After a short chat I bought Georgie’s book and signed up for the next SIRPA training course, which I did in September 2015, completing the training to become a SIRPA practitioner.  I felt that this was the missing piece to my practice.

As I became more aware of the mind-body approach with lots more reading and training, I came across an opportunity to train as a coach (I am not sure I would have signed up if I hadn’t known about this work).  The coaching skills I learnt have helped me further develop my SIRPA skills.

I am a nerd at heart, I have always tried to develop my practice based on good science.  Pain science has developed significantly since I graduated.  There is now strong evidence around the use of education in pain science and treatments using this to improve outcomes for patients.  Whilst the science has been changing for some time, the information has not yet filtered down to many Health Care Professionals or to patients themselves.  One of my aims is to debunk some of these myths and help to set you on the road to recovery.

There is no magic bullet when it comes to recovering from pain, pain is multifactorial so you will have to work at it.  However, I can work with you and help you develop the skills that you need to recover from your symptoms.

Working with the right therapist is essential for your recovery, I therefore offer a 30 minute free call to help you decide if I am the right person for you.  Why not give me a call?

I am based in Huddersfield and have a small private clinic at home where I can see you in person, or alternatively I can work with you on zoom.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
